Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as general reporter. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Her coverage included a variety of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra affair, the tax reform and the budget, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled widely together with the president Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
